Frank Attere is the Start Up Leader at the Procter and Gamble (P&G) Iowa City Oral Care plant. He assumed this position in February 2018.

At P&G, he is the operational lead for bringing in a new manufacturing line to continue expanding P&G’s manufacturing capabilities in the Midwest. He works as part of a cross functional team that is based in Germany, Shanghai and Iowa City.

Prior to P&G, Frank has worked for numerous manufacturing companies such as HNI, ACP Incorporated and General Mills, with his efforts primarily focused on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.

Frank received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa. He and his wife, Jessica, currently live in North Liberty with their two kids, Liam and Theo.
Beth Westlake Blanco

Beth Westlake Blanco, P.E. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa in 2007. She went on to earn Masters of Science Degrees from the University of Iowa in Industrial Engineering (2009), Urban and Regional Planning (2010), and Civil Engineering (2016).

Beth is the Design Quality Engineer at Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) in Coralville, Iowa. Prior to IDT, Beth served as Quality Systems Manager at D+R International, an energy efficiency consulting firm based in the Washington DC area, and 5 years in various roles at Procter and Gamble Iowa City Oral Care.

Jeffery Bolander

Jeff Bolander is the Director of Operations at the Whirlpool Manufacturing Plant in Amana, IA. Jeff joined Whirlpool in November 2018 after a 21-year career with CNH Industrial. The Amana site is a fully vertically integrated high volume manufacturing operation, producing the french door, bottom mount refrigeration appliance. Jeff is responsible for managing, coordinating, and controlling the site operation of many manufacturing processes to include: metal fabrication, plastic thermo-forming, foam injection, EPS, powder coat, and assembly.

Prior to joining Whirlpool, Mr. Bolander served as the General Plant Manager of the CNH Industrial NAR Construction Equipment Manufacturing Plant in Wichita KS for five years and as the Director of the CNH/KOBELCO International Joint Venture in Atlanta GA for three years. He has over 25 years of combined manufacturing experience. Mr. Bolander is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, where he served eight years as a defense intelligence analyst for the NSA.

Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland, Asian Division (Japan) in Business Management and is currently a certified World Class Manufacturing Auditor. He has recently joined the University of Iowa Industrial and Systems Engineering Advisory Board and is a former member of the Wichita State University Industrial Advisory Board.

Troy Bunk

Troy Brunk

Troy Brunk leads Communication, Navigation & Guidance Solutions for Mission Systems based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this role, Mr. Brunk is responsible for the company’s broad portfolio of secure and resilient military communication and navigation solutions, actuation and guidance solutions for military applications, along with health and fuel sensing systems used across military and commercial airborne platforms.

He most recently served as vice president and general manager for Communication, Navigation and Electronic Warfare Solutions for Rockwell Collins Government Systems. He joined Rockwell Collins in 1992 and has held various positions of increasing responsibility in operations and program management. His previous roles include vice president and general manager for Airborne Solutions where he was responsible for the company’s avionics and flight deck solutions for military fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.

Mr. Brunk earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Iowa. He serves on the advisory board for The University of Iowa’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association, Association of the U.S. Army, and Air Force Association.

Ryan Donner

Ryan Donner graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree Industrial Engineering degree in 2007. He has since completed his MBA through the University of Iowa in 2016. He has 10+ years of manufacturing engineering and leadership experience. Ryan is currently a Plant Manager for HNI Corporation in their furniture division.

Dr. Thomas Ferris received his BS in IE from the University of Iowa in 2003, and his PhD from the University of Michigan. He is currently an Associate Professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University and the co-Director of the Center for Health Organization Transformation (CHOT; The mission of CHOT is to coordinate collaborative projects among engineers, health scientists, and industry members to address the real-world challenges facing healthcare industries.
Robert Fuhrmann

Robert Fuhrmann is a Managing Director in Accenture’s Supply Chain, Operations, and Sustainability Strategy group and leads the North American Sourcing and Procurement (S&P) and Strategic Cost Takeout practice.  Mr. Fuhrmann is based out of the Chicago Office and has been with Accenture for over 20 years. He is a 1998 graduate from the UI College of Engineering with a degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Manufacturing.
Phil Hawbaker

Phil Hawbaker graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Finance in 2011. He has spent the past 8 years working in the software industry working with clients implementing supply chain solutions in a variety of industries. Currently, he and his wife live in the Cedar Rapids area where he enjoys golfing, and running when they aren't traveling.

Daniel Rogge, CEO Tormach Inc, has a diverse background that includes experience as a professional metal fabricator, educator, motion control engineer, and software developer. Mr. Rogge holds a BA from Grinnell College, and an MS in Industrial Engineering with a focus on manufacturing from the University of Iowa. He continues to focus professionally on what he spent his time doing as a teaching assistant at the University of Iowa: helping people make things.
Herm Reininga

Herm Reininga

Herman M. (Herm) Reininga is former Director of the National Advanced Driving Simulator at the University of Iowa. As Senior Vice President of Operations for Rockwell Collins, Mr. Reininga was in charge of the overall management of Rockwell Collins’ global production and material operations until his retirement in 2004. In June 2001, Reininga was inducted into the University of Iowa College of Engineering Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy. In 1999, he received the prestigious Meritorious Public Service Citation by the Chief of Naval Research, Department of the U.S. Navy. In 1998 he was awarded the Defense Manufacturing Excellence award endorsed by nine national trade associations and professional societies.

A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mr. Reininga earned his
Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa and his M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.

Christina Kelling 
Competency Lead for Assembly, Manufacturing Design, and IE
John Deere
Christina (Chris) Kelling is the Competency Lead for Assembly, Manufacturing Design, and Industrial Engineering at John Deere. In this position, Chris is working with the factories to define and deploy common strategy, processes, tools, and training for these competencies across the enterprise.

Throughout her 25-year career with John Deere, she has held various positions within manufacturing engineering, project management, production control, factory automation, and quality.

Chris received her Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering with an emphasis in Power Machinery from Iowa State University.
